Brian Lara, known for his admiration of left-handed prodigies, has recently made noteworthy comments about Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal, considered one of India's most promising young talents, has been in the spotlight for his exceptional batting skills.

He has been a consistent performer and has earned a place in India's squads across all formats recently.

Jaiswal made an impressive Test debut against West Indies at  Roseau last year, scoring 171 runs in the first innings.

With nine Tests and 17 T20Is under his belt, Jaiswal has gained significant experience, providing ample sample for someone like Lara to make his assessments.

"If I feel my records are threatened, Jaiswal has got a very good chance to do so. He has got capabilities, couple of double hundreds already. He is that good," Brian Lara said.

Jaiswal is having a decent IPL 2024 season by his standards, having scored 320 runs in 11 innings at an average of 32.00 and a strike rate of 157.64. He also has a century to his name, which he scored against the Mumbai Indians.

Brian Lara has also expressed admiration for another Indian left-hander, Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Having worked with Abhishek in the past, Lara shares a good relationship with the youngster and holds him in high regard.

"Again he is someone who I met while I was batting coach of SRH. I spent two years there. I am allowed to a bit biased when I see a left-hander, I just love a left-hander. Myself and Abhishek have developed a very good relationship, these youngsters are very humble, they want to learn,” Lara added.

In the current IPL 2024 season, Sharma has showcased his batting prowess, amassing 326 runs from 11 innings at an average of 29.63 and an outstanding strike rate of 195.20.
