Marcus Stoinis failed to rescue Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from their unwavering start against SRH in match number 57 of the IPL 2024 season.

Arriving to the crease in just the third over of the innings following the dismissal of opener Quinton de Kock, the broad-shouldered Australian was dismissed for just three runs by SRH’s new-ball speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Stoinis’ dismissal inside the opening powerplay further worsened LSG’s top-order troubles at 21-2.

Batting at number three, LSG’s Australian import Marcus Stoinis arrived to the crease in the third over of the innings.

After negotiating Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shahbaz Ahmed in his first few deliveries, the cricketer attempted to break the shackles by walloping the former over the mid-on region.

However, Stoinis failed to clear the inner circle as he was holed out by an agile Sanvir Singh.

Earlier in the match, LSG opener Quinton de Kock was caught near the boundary by Nitish Kumar Reddy off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, thus prompting the early arrival of Marcus Stoinis into the crease.

With the sudden dismissal of the Australian all-rounder, LSG slipped to 21-2 in 4.2 overs before captain KL Rahul and number four Krunal Pandya led a belligerent counterattacking response against the SRH bowlers.

Pandya even crashed successive sixes off Jaydev Unadkat in the eighth over of the innings, and steered LSG past the 50-run mark alongside his skipper.

The match marks a must-win one for both LSG as well as hosts SRH in a bid to inch closer to a potential playoffs spot towards the closing stages of the IPL 2024 season.
