Promising left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered an impressive performance on his Test debut, scoring a remarkable 171-run knock on the third day of the First match against West Indies in Dominica. This achievement places him as the 3rd highest individual scorer for India on debut Test innings.

After showcasing his resilience by remaining at the crease for an extended period on the second day, Jaiswal showed the passion on day 3, eventually falling for an impressive 171. In this process, the southpaw shattered numerous records, etching his name in Indian cricket history.

It is worth mentioning that this remarkable feat makes Jaiswal only the third Indian opener to slam a century on his Test debut, joining the ranks of Shikhar Dhawan (187 against Australia vs 2013) and Rohit Sharma (177 vs West Indies in 2013).

Now, Let us take a look at the highest individual scores in an innings by a Test debutant for India.

Shikhar Dhawan - 187

The star player Shikhar Dhawan made his Test debut against Australia on March 14, 2013 in Mohali, where he showcased his brilliance by scoring spectacular 187 runs in the first innings.

Rohit Sharma - 177

The India Captain Rohit Sharma played his first Test against West Indies on November 6, 2013, in Kolkata. In his debut innings, Sharma notched up 177 runs with his extraordinary skills.

Yashasvi Jaiswal - 171

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who showed his hunger and determination in the Test debut, has now earned his place at No.3. His outstanding performance is testament to his incredible talent.

Gundappa Vishwanath - 137

The Former Indian cricketer Gundappa Vishwanath, made his Test debut against Australia on November 15, 1969, in Kanpur. Although he got out for a duck in the first innings, he showcased his resilience by scoring a remarkable century in the second innings.

Prithvi Shaw - 134

Young Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw played a crucial role in his Test debut against West Indies on October 4, 2018, where he displayed his exceptional batting skills and contributed an invaluable 134 runs in the first innings.

Alzarri Joseph was bowling the 126th over of the innings, and Jaiswal was at the striker's end, facing the last delivery. He attempted to hit the ball towards the off-side; however, ended up getting a thick outside edge, causing it to go straight into the wicketkeeper's gloves. Unfortunately, this marked the end of the young player's outstanding performance, and he was visibly disappointed at not being able to reach his maiden double ton.

Notably, Jaiswal has also become the first-ever Indian cricketer to score more than 150 runs on his overseas Test debut. These remarkable performances exemplify the talent and determination that Indian cricketers bring to the Test arena, creating unforgettable moments in the history of the game.
