The BCCI is set to hire a new head coach for the Indian men's side following the T20 World Cup in June and the names have already started floating around since the board has opened the applications. Kumar Sangakkara has become the latest entrant to show 'no interest' for the job.

After the likes of Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer said no to the potential move, Sangakkara was also asked about his chances to be the successor of Rahul Dravid.

The Sri Lankan legend went on to deny any contact from the board, also telling about not having enough time to dedicate completely to coaching the Indian side, reiterating his full commitment to the role as the director of cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Rajasthan Royals (RR).

"I have not been approached and I don’t have time to commit full-time to an India coaching job. Happy with my stint with Royals and let’s see how it goes," Sangakkara said following the defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2.

The Royals director of cricket, who is also the former president of MCC currently holds the chair of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) World Cricket Committee.

Under Sangakkara's guidance, the Rajasthan Royals side reached the playoffs in IPL 2024, but lost in the Eliminator against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
