Dinesh Karthik, Steve Smith Selected In A 'Special Team' For T20 World Cup 2024

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 that will be played in the United States of America and West Indies is just a couple of weeks away and on Friday, the ICC has announced a star-laden panel of commentators who will be sitting behind the microphone and call the mega event.

The commentary panel is set to be led by some regular big names, 'stalwarts', as mentioned in the official announcement in Ravi Shastri, Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith, Melanie Jones, Ian Bishop and Harsha Bhogle.

The recently retired Dinesh Karthik also features in the list alongside some former winners of the tournament, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, Carlos Brathwaite, Lisa Sthalekar, Ebony Rainford-Brent and Samuel Badree.

Some cricketing greats and World Cup winners, Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Tom Moody, Ramiz Raja, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, who have been around the sport for over 30 years, also make the cut for the mega event.

James Vincent Michael O'Brien, better known as JomBoy will also be making his debut for ICC and will be especially catering the American audience.

Among other names that will be a part of an in-depth coverage for the 28-day event where pre, mid and post match shows will be done include the following.

Dale Steyn, Graeme Smith, Michael Atherton, Waqar Younis, Simon Doull, Shaun Pollock, Katey Martin, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Natalie Germanos, Danny Morrison, Alison Mitchell, Alan Wilkins, Brian Murgatroyd, Mike Haysman, Ian Ward, Athar Ali Khan, Russel Arnold, Niall O’Brien, Kass Naidoo and Daren Ganga.

The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to begin between the USA and Canada from June 2 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas following the warm-up matches from May 27.
