From one legend to another, former West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards has praised India's Virat Kohli and called the right-handed batter on par with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli has carried forward the legacy of India's rich batting history which has produced greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and several others.

The former India captain levelled Tendulkar's record of most ODI centuries (49) against South Africa and looks poised to surpass the latter as early as Rohit Sharma and Co's next World Cup 2023 match, which will be against Netherlands on Sunday.

Speaking to ICC, Richards, who Kohli himself takes inspiration from, explained why the RCB batter it up there with legends of the game, and how he is a massive fan.

Here's what Richards said

“There have been a whole host of talented individuals on show but to top them all, you cannot look past Virat Kohli. I am a huge fan of Virat, I have been for a long time, and he continues to show why he has to go down as one of the all-time greats, right up there with the likes of the great Sachin."

The two-time World Cup winning player also pointed out his interactions with the former Indian captain, and gave insight about his mental fortitude, which cuts him above the rest.

“Virat is a go-getter and what sets him apart is his mental strength. He will have backed himself throughout, and on the occasions in the past in which I have chatted with him and we have discussed things, his mental strength has always been evident. That has been key to pushing him through to how he is playing now. Very few players, or people, are built like that.”

In the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the 35-year-old has been in stellar form slamming 543 runs with two centuries and four fifties.
