Virat Kohli, run machine of the Indian cricket team, was drafted by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the 2008 IPL draft. Coming off a U19 World Cup victory as a skipper, RCB instilled faith in Kohli, and the rest is history. He went on to represent RCB in each IPL season and became a local superstar.

While RCB is yet to lift an IPL trophy, Virat Kohli's heart is full of the love and respect he has received from the fans over the years. In an interview with Star Sports, he spoke about his bond with the city of Bangalore and how being with RCB was his destiny.

Kohli says being with RCB was always meant to be as Delhi Daredevils (now capitals) backed out on him during the last minute to lock Pradeep Sangwan. RCB was the next in line, and he eventually signed for Bangalore.

Having said that, Kohli has no regret whatsoever. He found a new home in Bangalore, and the loyalty he obtained from the people of the city was way more important and valuable than a silverware IPL trophy.

Despite spending 16 years without a trophy, Virat Kohli cannot see himself playing for any other franchise in IPL. He feels the people of Bangalore have accepted him wholeheartedly despite him not being a local boy. He labeled his connection with the city of Bangalore a rare bond.

Kohli further lauded the Bangaloreans sporting intelligence, saying that fans understand the depth of any sport, be it cricket or football, and they are not just a random fanbase.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has returned to his den for the final group stage clash of the CWC 2023 against the Netherlands, which is scheduled to take place on November 12. It's just a formality, as India is already through to the semi-finals. Nonetheless, the host nation will look to extend its exceptional winning record and conclude the group stage campaign on a high.
