Finally, the wait is over, and we have reached the much-anticipated final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 between India and South Africa at the Kensington Oval on Saturday.

Ahead, of this much-awaited clash, South African captain Aiden Markram shared his thoughts and opinions on Virat Kohli's poor performance in the ongoing marquee tournament.

The T20 World Cup final is set to be a thrilling encounter between two unbeaten teams, India and South Africa.

This match is historic for both teams, with India aiming to end a decade-long ICC trophy drought and South Africa looking to clinch their first-ever World Cup title in any format. The anticipation is high as both teams have shown exceptional performances throughout the tournament, and the final promises to be a memorable clash.

Aiden Markram Opines On Virat Kohli

In the pre-match press conference, Aiden Markram stated that the Indian cricket team has the depth in batting lineup. He also remained coy about his team's strategy against star Indian batter Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados.

"I don't think it worries me. He's a great player, as we all know. But they've got their whole batting unit full of great players. And cricket's a game of ups and downs. You're not always going to do well, especially as a batter. So, we just do our planning, do our preparation from a meeting point of view for planning towards those batters and hopefully on the day we can get that right," Markram said in the pre-match press conference.

His comments highlighted the strength of India's batting lineup, while also showcased a strategic humility regarding how they plan to handle Virat Kohli.

Kohli's performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup has been underwhelming, especially compared to his phenomenal IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he won the Orange Cap with 741 runs at an impressive average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69.

Despite scoring a century and five half-centuries in the IPL, Kohli has struggled in the World Cup, managing 75 runs at an average of 10.71 across seven matches.
