In a remarkable achievement, India etched their name in history books, registering the highest team total in Women's Tests.

During the ongoing Test match against South Africa Women, the Indian Women's team unlocked the feat, surpassing Australia Women's tally of 575/9, which they posted against the same opponent in Perth earlier this year.

Highest team totals in Women's Tests

  • India - 594/4* vs South Africa, Chennai, 2024
  • Australia - 575/9 vs South Africa, Perth, 2024
  • Australia - 569/6 vs England, Guildford, 1998
  • Australia - 525 vs India, Ahmedabad, 1984
  • New Zealand - 517/8 vs England, Scarborough, 1996

Harman, Richa extend India's dominance

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India had a dream start to their innings, with openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma stitching a mammoth 292-run stand for the first wicket.

Mandhana slammed a glorious 161-ball 149, while Shafali smashed the fastest-ever double hundred in Women's Tests.

Despite losing Satheesh Shubha cheaply, scintillating fifties from Jemimah Rodrigues (55 off 94), Harmanpreet Kaur (68* off 113) and keeper-batter Richa Ghosh (77 off 81) helped them breach the 500-run mark.

Thus, they surpassed Australia Women's total against the Proteas to top the list. India declared their innings on 603/6, becoming the first-ever team to breach the 600-run mark in Women's Tests.
