Despite their disappointing early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistani cricketers are set to receive significant financial rewards.

Each player will earn Rs 1,674,336 in match fees, supplemented by a daily allowance exceeding Rs 550,000.

Lucrative Financial Gains Amidst Poor T20WC Performance

In addition, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will split $247,500 (about Rs 70 million) among the 15 players and their management.

This translates to over Rs 4.3 million per player. Furthermore, the team will earn an extra $62,308 (around Rs 17.5 million total) for their two match victories, which equates to approximately Rs 1.1 million per player.

These monetary benefits come when the core contracts for 2023–24 were successfully negotiated, securing a 3% part of ICC earnings for players.

This boost has significantly increased their monthly salaries. Top players in Category A, including stars like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, now earn Rs6.03 million monthly. Other categories have also seen substantial increases.

Despite these lucrative financial rewards, the team's on-field performance has been disappointing.

Their early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, marked by losses to the USA and India, has raised concerns about the correlation between increased earnings and on-field success.

This decline is also reflected in their T20 ranking, which has dropped to seventh from a previous top position.

Looking ahead, the 2024-25 and 2025-26 contracts promise further salary hikes from ICC revenues. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is debating whether to keep offering this perk going forward.
