Virat Kohli once again fell short of making an impact, failing against England in the semi-finals of ICC T20 World Cup.

Despite his impressive IPL 2024 performance as an opener for RCB, he couldn't replicate it on the grandest stage for country, getting dismissed for only 9 runs off 9 balls to Topley's delivery in the semi finals of T20 World Cup against England.

Virat Kohli displayed promise when he launched a beautiful six off Topley's  delivery. However, his attempt at another big shot led to his dismissal as he got bowled out.

Kohli's stint as an Indian opener has not been successful in this World Cup, placing him among the openers with an average of around 10 or less in whole history of the T20 World Cups.

Kohli owns 'this' poor record in T20 WC

Kohli's average in this T20 World Cup stands at 10.71, which is notably low. Only two openers have had worse averages in T20 World Cup history, having played a minimum of five innings.

Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar averaged 9.60 in the 2016 World Cup is one of those 2 players, and Zimbabwe's Wesley Madhevere who managed 9.80 in the 2022 World Cup is the other.

This is not the kind of performance we expect from someone of Kohli's caliber and fans are criticizing Kohli for this cluster of failures. This T20 World Cup might mark his final appearance in the tournament. Kohli was expected to make great contributions, but he has yet to deliver in this  World Cup.

In contrast to his exceptional performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he was the top scorer, Kohli has been unable to replicate that form in the T20 World Cup, which is disappointing.
