Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar supported Rohit Sharma to win the T20 World Cup 2024 title after the Men in Blue claimed a 68-run win over England in the semi-final match of the ongoing tournament. 

Rohit Sharma & Co upped their game and booked their berth in the final of the mega event in the West Indies and the United States. 

Akhtar showered praise on the Indian skipper and said that he is a 'selfless captain' and plays for the team after his knock of 57 runs off 39 balls.

Akhtar Claims Rohit Sharma To Be A 'Selfless Captain'

The former Pakistani speedster stated on his official YouTube channel that after missing out on the WTC and ODI World Cup last year, the 37-year-old cricketer deserves to win the T20 World Cup 2024. He heaped praises on Rohit current form and praised the mindset of the dynamic batter as a captain. 

He also hailed his ‘selfless’ nature as he puts the interests of his team ahead instead of personal goals. The former cricketer also added that he is rooting for Team India in the ongoing marquee event. 

"Rohit Sharma has repeatedly said he wants to make an impact and win the trophy and so, deserves to win the cup. He is a big player, and it should end on a big note. He is a selfless captain, plays for the team and is a complete batter," Shoaib said.

Rohit Sharma's T20 World Cup 2024 

Along with commendable captaincy, Rohit has performed well with the bat as well he has scored 248 runs in 7 games with an average of 35.43 and a strike-rate of 155.97 with 3 half-centuries and a top score of 92 against Australia to his name.

India will lock horns against South Africa in the final on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
