Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha heaped huge praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal following his explosive knock in the second T20I of the three-match series against Afghanistan on Sunday. Jaiswal opened the batting alongside Rohit Sharma and played a destructive knock of 68 runs in just 34 balls.

The southpaw showed aggression right from the start of his innings, laying the foundation for a successful run chase. His innings helped the team chase down a 174-run target in just 15.4 overs.

Ojha shed light on Jaiswal's outstanding knock, which mixed caution with aggression.

"The way he batted, the pace at which he played, the confidence he showed, he showed maturity along with striking ability. He wasn't leaving the game. He was taking the game forward.” Ojha said.

Jaiswal replaced Shubman Gill at the top of the order in the second T20I. He made full use of the opportunity and smacked a match-winning half-century.

With just a single T20 international left to be played for India before the T20 World Cup 2024, Jaiswal's knock must have given a strong message to the selectors.

Expressing his viewpoint in the same regard, Ojha said,

"He scored a huge percentage of the team's runs. It shows his hunger. He knows very few tickets are available for the World Cup. If you have to get that, you will have to play like this and it's extremely important that you finish the game as well."

India seal T20I series against Afghanistan 2-0

Riding on a destructive half-century from Gulbadin Naib, Afghanistan notched a formidable score of 172 runs on the board. However, Indian batters made a mockery of the target, chasing it inside 16 overs.

Virat Kohli and Jaiswal set the tone with a half-century partnership, followed by jaw-dropping sixes from Shivam Dube. The southpaw smashed as many as five sixes during his match-winning unbeaten 63-run knock in just 32 balls, striking at close to 200.

With that win, India sealed the series by 2-0, with the third T20I scheduled to be played on Wednesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
