In an astonishing display of elite athleticism, the Joburg Super Kings' Romario Shepherd pulled off a blinder against the Duban Super Giants to send opener Matthew Breetzke packing at a low score of 13 runs in the first innings.

The Durban Super Giants squared off with the Joburg Super Kings in the 17th matchup of the ongoing SA20 season. Unlike the current trend, this game promised a low-scoring fight between the two sides. Thus, the Giants' skipper, Keshav Maharaj, opted to bat first after winning the toss.

However, the game plan brutally backfired as the Giants crumbled against the Kings' spin attack.

Romario Shepherd Stuns Crowd With Sensational Catch

After Moeen Ali removed the dangerous Quinton De Kock, Nandre Burger followed his cue. He bowled a short-of-length delivery to opener Matthew Breetzke, who decided to finally attack, and to his credit, Matthew played an outrageous shot by flicking on one leg. He put every ounce of power on that shot yet couldn't get the desired end result owing to a freaking piece of fielding from Romario Shepherd.

Shepherd, positioned at short mid-wicket, timed his jump to perfection and plucked a one-handed blinder to end Matthew's stay at the crease. While the catch looked unreal in real-time, the replays further confirmed that Shepherd had indeed pulled off the unthinkable.

Breetzke's outrageous shot was out of the fielder's reach. Thus, he not only jumped in time but also moved to his right side at the right second to pluck the catch.

Needless to say, the unreal scene sent shockwaves amongst the on-field players, fans, and commentators. Nandre Burger was in complete awe of Romario's efforts. It took him a couple of minutes to sink into the wicket.

Meanwhile, a heartbroken Matthew Breetzke couldn't believe his eyes and dragged himself out of the field with the utmost disappointment.

Undoubtedly, Romario Shepherd's blinder will go down as one of the best moments of the SA20 2024 season.
