India’s one of greatest bowlers Anil Kumble recently lauded Akash Deep for his magnificent debut for the Indian cricket team against England in the fourth test match of England’s tour of India. Kumble believes that being a young talent, Akash has done a great job, as he has bowled exceptionally well on the tricky pitch of the JSCA International Stadium complex in Ranchi.

Akash Deep gave India a great kickstart in the game as he broke the budding 47-run partnership between the English opening batsmen as he got Ben Dukket at a low score of 11. Akash got India three quick breakthroughs, as he dismissed the new batsman on the crease, Ollie Pope for a duck in the same over.

Akash replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the fourth test match as he was rested from the game. The pacer was selected over Mukesh Kumar who conceded 70 runs in the 2nd Test while picking a single wicket.

With over 600 Test wickets in his bag, the former head coach Anil Kumble believes the Indian team management made a great decision while giving Akash Deep his maiden call-up. After lunch, while talking to JioCinema, Anil Kumble said,

"The team management certainly got it spot on. When Bumrah wasn't available for this game, there was an option to pick a fast bowler. India has always played two seamers in this series so far. Yes, we all thought the pitch was conducive, then maybe Axar Patel. But Akash has certainly bowled exceptionally well.”

Akash Deep made the most of the moist pitch during the initial overs while delivering on good lengths of the pitch. Kumble observed that Akash did not allow the English batters to score boundaries, which was a great strategy by the young pacer.

As the ball began to get older, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma brought in the spinners into the game while restricting Akash Deep towards the end. At the end of Day 1, England stands at a score of 302 and the loss of seven wickets.
