Virat Kohli, recently retained by RCB for a whooping INR 21 crores, sent a heartfelt video message to RCB fans ahead of the IPL 2025 season. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and promised to compete for the title in the next 3-year cycle.

Royals Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) released their retention list at the October 31 deadline, and some omissions were mind-boggling. Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal were confirmed names, with Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, and captain Faf du Plessis unexpectedly released.

That being said, Virat Kohli was announced as first retention for a whopping salary of INR 21 crores. His choice was a no-brainer decision for the franchise as his association dates back to the inception of IPL in 2008. While RCB haven’t won a title, the unconditional support from the massive fanbase is still intact, largely due to Kohli’s presence and commitment.

Virat Kohli shoots special video message for RCB fans

After the retention list was released, Virat Kohli shared a video message for RCB fans thanking them for their support and faith over the years. Kohli revealed that he has been retained for a 3-year cycle by the end of which he will complete 20 years with the franchise, which is a matter of pride for him.

Kohli added that he is excited to witness what the mega auction has to offer and put faith in the management for doing the right thing. Virat Kohli also assured the fans that the goal is to win the IPL trophy at least once, and he will ensure everyone is on the same page once the season begins.

Notably, RCB will enter the mega auction with INR 84 crores purse and 3 RTM cards.

RCB keen on pursuing KL Rahul

LSG have parted ways with captain KL Rahul after the skipper’s rift with owners last year. He will enter the mega auction as a hot pick, and RCB are likely to pursue him aggressively. RCB also released their captain, Faf du Plessis, and while Virat Kohli’s name is being floated for leadership, the franchise still needs a strong batting core to rely on. Hence, Rahul is expected to fetch big bucks at the auction.
