Shubman Gill | 2nd | INR 16.5 crores |
Sai Sudharsan | 3rd | INR 8.5 crores |
Rahul Tewatia | 4th | INR 4 crores |
Shahrukh Khan | 5th | INR 4 crores |
Remaining Purse - 69 crores
Former IPL champions Gujarat Titans (GT) nearly exhausted their retention limit by retaining as many as 5 players, leaving them with just one RTM card for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction.
1st Retention For GT for IPL 2025 – Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan has been announced as first retention for INR 18 crores which is the max salary slab. Rashid's UK-based agents have always been notorious when it comes to negotiations, and they were surely not settling for anything less than the max cap.
2nd Retention For GT for IPL 2025 – Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill, the future captaincy prospect for Indian cricket team, is retained and will remain as GT's captain for the IPL 2025 season. However, Gill had to take a pay cut upon the franchise's request since their finances were taking a hit due to a large number of retentions. Hence, Gill has been selected as second retention for INR 16.5 crores.
3rd Retention For GT for IPL 2025 – Sai Sudharsan
Next in the capped category is emerging star Sai Sudharsan for INR 8.5 crores. Sai had an amazing run in the previous season and is expected to be a part of the core nest year.
Uncapped Retentions For GT for IPL 2025 - Rahul Tewatia & Shahrukh Khan
Besides this, Gujarat Titans have also retained Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan for INR 4 crores each as uncapped players. Both fetched over INR 5 crores in previous auctions. But due to the budget cap on uncapped category, the duo will have to settle for less in the IPL 2025 season.
GT's remaining purse: 69 crores
GT have now exhausted 51 crores in 5 retentions and will head into mega auction with total purse of INR 69 crores Mohammed Shami is the notable name released by Gujarat Titans due to injury concerns. Shami has been out of action since 2023, and his availability for the upcoming season is uncertain. Hence, GT chose to move on from Shami. They are now left with just 1 RTM card to use in the mega auction.
