'Either Be Available Or...': Ex-Indian Player 'Slams' England Cricketers For Leaving IPL Midway

Following Sunil Gavaskar's sharp criticism of England players leaving IPL 2024 early, Irfan Pathan echoed similar sentiments, condemning their actions.

Pathan took to Twitter after the RR vs PBKS game, which notably lacked Jos Buttler in the Royals lineup, as he departed to join the national team. Joining Buttler will be Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow, as instructed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Curran mentioned that both he and Bairstow would be returning home on Thursday. The premature exit of Phil Salt from KKR further fuelled Gavaskar's call for repercussions against such players.

Irfan criticized the decisions of various England players to depart the IPL early.

These departures were either for rest or to join England's squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on May 22.

In his tweet on X, the ex-India all-rounder underlined that players should commit to either the entire season or refrain from participating altogether. "Either be available for the full season or don't come!"

Last month, the ECB clarified that players selected for the T20 World Cup must return home before May 22 for the home series against Pakistan.

Despite prompt discussions between the BCCI and ECB to address concerns raised by IPL franchises facing significant losses post-May 17, a resolution is yet to be reached.
