Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma reiterated his commitment to team cohesion and collective success over individual accolades.

Rohit, who has held the mantle of India's captain across all formats since late 2021, boasts an impressive leadership record. Under his inspiring leadership, India reached the final of the 2023 World Cup and the World Test Championship. Despite not clinching an ICC title yet, the 37-year-old cricketer maintains a commendable win percentage as captain of the Indian team.

Rohit Sharma on his captaincy tenture

In a candid reflection, Rohit Sharma highlighted the importance of unity in team sports, highlighting his approach to leadership upon assuming the captaincy role.

"When I took over as India Captain, I just wanted everyone to drive in one direction that's how team sport should be played, it's not about personal milestone & personal stats & goals, it is about what all 11 of us can bring to the table & win the trophy,”  said Rohit Sharma during an event.

As the leader of the 15-member Indian squad, Rohit is set to steer the team's campaign in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian contingent will soon convene in the United States of America (USA) for the much-awaited event, starting next month with eyes set on clinching the coveted silverware.

This marks Rohit's ninth appearance in the T20 World Cup, making him the only cricketer to feature in every edition of the tournament. With an impressive record of 963 runs from 39 matches, Rohit's experience and skillset are invaluable assets to the Indian team. However, he will need to summon his best performances if India aims to break their ICC trophy drought.
