Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB W) spinner Asha Shobhana has emerged as a standout performer in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, displaying her mesmerizing leg-spin skills. Her sensational performances have been instrumental in steering her team to the WPL 2024 final.

Shobhana's heroics began during the league phase when she grabbed the spotlight with a remarkable figure of 5/22 against WP Warriorz. However, it was her nerve-wracking display in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians Women on Friday that truly solidified her status as a game-changer.

Defending a mere 12 runs in the last over, Shobhana exhibited nerves of steel as she outfoxed the opposition, securing a vital victory for her side.

WPL 2024: Mandhana & Shobhana reflect upon the thrilling win

Reflecting on the intense encounter, both Shobhana and RCB Women captain Smriti Mandhana shared insights into the decisions that shaped the thrilling win.

Opening up on her standout moments, Shobhana reminisced, "From the 15th over, I was thinking that the 20th over is going to be me. I was expecting that."

Smriti Mandhana, recognizing Shobhana's brilliance, recalled, "I went to Asha and asked will you bowl the last over and the way she responded... saying of course I can... I will defend the target and you don’t worry about it."

Asha Shobhana's bowling brilliance was evident as she meticulously planned her approach for the final over.

"I knew that lower order is going to come ahead and hit me as one side was bigger and other side was smaller and I knew if I bowl slower, it's going to be difficult."

Mandhana also lauded Shobhana's foresight, remarking, "After the match, she told me that in her head she was thinking, she was going to bowl the last over. I was like wow, I didn’t know the match was going to go into the last over."

Following their spectacular victory, RCB Women are set to face Delhi Capitals Women in the WPL 2024 final on Sunday, March 17, at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium as both teams eye their maiden WPL title.
