As the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) draws near, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have hit the ground running, starting on their journey towards reclaiming their former glory.

Under the vigilant supervision of their newly appointed mentor, Gautam Gambhir, the team marked the commencement of their first training session in a traditional way. The session began with a 'wicket pooja' followed by the smashing of a coconut.

The training ground buzzed with activity as notable figures like Gautam Gambhir, Rinku Singh, Manish Pandey, Venkatesh Iyer, and Varun Chakravarthy were seen rolling up their sleeves, gearing up for what promises to be a challenging journey ahead.

The team was seen diving headlong into rigorous training that included an intensive net session and a series of fitness drills, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to win the third trophy.

Meanwhile, the team eagerly awaits the arrival of its captain, Shreyas Iyer, alongside heavy hitters Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, who are set to land in Kolkata on Saturday.

Adding to the excitement, Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in IPL history, is expected to join the ranks by Sunday, rounding off a formidable ensemble that the Knight Riders believe will spearhead their campaign.

It is worth mentioning that Kolkata Knight Riders' performance last season saw them finish in the seventh spot, a far cry from their aspirations.

They managed to secure only six victories out of fourteen matches. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana took the helm but fell short of steering the team to its desired destination.

However, Kolkata's prodigal son Gautam Gambhir's return to the mentoring staff has infused a fresh dose of optimism within the camp. Moreover, with Iyer back in command and bolstered by high-profile acquisitions from the IPL 2024 auction, the KKR team looks set to unleash its full potential.
