South Africa's captain, Aiden Markram, is determined to defeat India in the final and shed the 'choker' label that has plagued South African cricket.

It's the first time South Africa has reached a World Cup final, facing Rohit Sharma's India today at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Both South Africa and India enter the final unbeaten, setting up a historic clash where one team will emerge as the first unbeaten ICC T20 World Cup champion. However, South Africa must confront their reputation as 'chokers'.

Since their 1998 Champions Trophy victory, they haven't clinched a major trophy, intensifying the pressure on Markram to change perceptions.

In yesterday's press conference, Markram indirectly acknowledged this challenge, underscoring the importance of this match in reshaping South Africa's cricketing history.

“Whether you win or lose, you’ve gone a step further, at least, and for us, that’s again going in the right direction. But yeah, we’d love to get to our first final and be able to win that first final. And hopefully, in the years to come, that can break the burden of what a lot of other people are saying about us as a team,”-Markram said.

South Africa has consistently been a strong team in cricket but has yet to win the ultimate prize in either ODI or T20 World Cup history.

This final represents their best opportunity for Proteas to secure that elusive title. On the other hand, India, having experienced losses in ODI World Cup final and two Test Championship finals, is seeking redemption.
