Royal Challengers Bengaluru coach Andy Flower is happy with the timing of the recent break in IPL 2025. According to Flower, two key players, Rajat Patidar and Phil Salt, have now fully recovered and are ready to perform again.
RCB will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second-last league match on May 23. The match was originally planned in Bengaluru but had to be moved to Lucknow due to heavy rain and flooding in the Karnataka capital.
Moreover, ahead of the playoffs, RCB’s head coach, Andy Flower, has shared a crucial health update on two of its key players.
Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt Fully Recovered
In a crucial phase of the IPL 2025 season, RCB captain Rajat Patidar and opener Phil Salt were down with injuries and health issues. The one-week halt in the tournament caused by the India-Pakistan border conflict ended up being a blessing in disguise.
As confirmed by head coach Andy Flower, both Patidar and Salt are fully fit and will be available for selection in their upcoming clash against SRH.
“Rajat Patidar’s right hand (finger injury) had time to recover, making him fit to bat again. Additionally, Salt, who had been sick, got a chance to recharge his batteries and is now back at full force,” Flower said (via sportstar).
RCB will also play their final league game in Lucknow on May 27, just two days before the first qualifier on May 29 in Mullanpur. This tight schedule means little rest for the players if RCB finishes in the top two and qualifies for the first playoff.
Josh Hazlewood To Rejoin RCB For IPL 2025 Playoffs
In a major boost for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood is set to return ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs. The Australian fast bowler, recovering from a shoulder injury, is expected to join the squad by Sunday, May 25. Hazlewood had earlier missed key league games but is now bowling again and ready to strengthen RCB’s bowling attack in the playoffs.
