Some milestones in T20 cricket, a format of youth and the hot-headed, arrive early, announcing the arrival of talent long before age becomes a factor. Every so often, a teenager or a rising star delivers a knock that makes the world sit up and take notice.
And in a country like India, where emerging talent seems to surface with every passing season, these early breakthroughs feel even more special. The past few years alone have shown just how quickly young Indian batters can turn promise into headlines.
With the rise of players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, here is a look at some Indian players who have scored five of the youngest centuries in T20 cricket.
5. Shaik Rasheed – 19 years and 25 days
Andhra zealot and Chennai Super Kings star Shaik Rasheed first hogged the limelight back in October 2023, at a time when he was just 19 years and 25 days. Batting for Andhra at number four against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi in the Elite Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 season, Rasheed blasted 100 unbeaten runs from just 54 balls with 10 cracking boundaries and six huge sixes.
His innings helped Andhra wallop Arunachal Pradesh by 145 runs. At the time, Shaik Rasheed became just the second quickest Indian in history to smash a T20 century.
4. Ayush Mhatre – 18 years and 135 days
Another CSK superstar, Ayush Mhatre, charted a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy century as a teenager, albeit during the 2025 season, i.e., shortly after making his IPL debut. Opening the innings for Mumbai in their Elite Group A match against Vidarbha in Lucknow, the youngster, aged 18 years and 135 days, clattered eight boundaries and eight huge sixes to crack 110* in just 53 balls.
Ayush Mhatre raced to his 100 from just 49 deliveries as Mumbai secured a comprehensive seven-wicket win in 17.5 overs. The innings also occurred at a time when the youngster was in dire need of some runs to justify his CSK retention for IPL 2026.
3. Vijay Zol – 18 years and 118 days
Maharashtra cricketer and former RCB player Vijay Zol made 109 runs in just 63 balls back during the 2013 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Opening the innings for Maharashtra, the cricketer launched 11 fours and five sixes against Mumbai in Ahmedabad to blaze his side to 215-4, doing so at the age of just 18 years and 118 days.
The innings, however, continues to remain Vijay Zol’s only T20 century, which includes three additional scores of 50 or more in his 25-match career.
2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi – 14 years and 232 days
Vaibhav Suryavanshi blasted 144 runs from just 42 balls at a staggering strike rate of 342.85 for India A during the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament in Doha in November 2025. He was just 18 years and 232 days at the time of his innings. Suryavanshi glittered his whirlwind knock with 11 fours and 15 huge sixes as India A mounted 297-4 in 20 overs to secure a huge 148-run win over UAE, an international cricket team and a regular Asia Cup competitor.
1. Vaibhav Suryavanshi – 14 years and 32 days
Roughly seven months before smothering UAE at the Rising Stars Asia Cup, Vaibhav Suryavanshi shot himself to nationwide stardom with an electrifying IPL century, composing 101 runs off just 38 balls against the likes of India’s senior internationals Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna and Afghanistan legend Rashid Khan.
Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Suryavanshi went big from the outset against Gujarat Titans while chasing 210, achieving so with relative ease in just 15.5 overs.
Nonetheless, the attacking left-hander cemented his name in legacy, becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to score a T20 century at a tender age of just 14 years and 32 days. A few weeks prior to his breathtaking knock, Vaibhav Suryavanshi also became the youngest player in history to play an IPL game, thus earmarking himself for greatness extremely early in his career.
