In the crucial semifinal against New Zealand, Shami with his lethal bowling bagged seven wickets. When Williamson and Daryl Mitchell were looking good in the middle, Shami came to the attack picked the most-wanted wicket of Kane Williamson and recorded his best ODI figures as 7/57. 


Jasprit Bumrah's cheeky spell against Pakistan

India's speedster, Jasprit Bumrah is known for delivering spearheaded yorkers and economical bowling. After coming back from injury, he was one of the standout performers from the Indian team and went on to pick 20 wickets in the tournament. 

In the high-magnitude clash against Pakistan, Jasprit Bumrah stunned the men in green with his lethal pace and swing. Giving just 17 runs in his spell of seven overs, he helped the Indian team restricting Pakistan to a total of 191 runs. He also managed to pick two wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan with his magical deliveries.

In Australia's run to their sixth World Cup title, Adam Zampa's contributions can't go unnoticed. After losing the first two games, it was Zampa who helped the Aussies get out of the hole with his amazing performances as he went on to pick 23 wickets in the tournament. 

In the important clash against Pakistan, where Australia managed to put up a mammoth total of 367, they just needed to take two or three early wickets to seal the win but the Pakistan top order played beautifully and were cruising towards the target. It was Adam Zampa, who dismissed Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, attacking their backbone and picking four wickets. 


Gerald Coetzee's masterclass in the semifinal

The Protea player, Gerald Coetzee was playing his first World Cup, bowled exceptionally well throughout the tournament. The right-arm seamer even over-shadowed the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen and went on to pick 20 wickets in just eight games. 

In the knockouts, South Africa could not post a high total against the Australian team but they had the bowlers to defend that kind of a score. Gerald Coetzee, who was not effective initially, came to bowl again in the 34th over and got the crucial wickets of Steve Smith, who was playing on 30 and then Josh Inglis, who was on 18. He did well to take the game to till the 48th over but could not help the Proteas seal a victory.

This Dutch team will be going in the record books for delivering the biggest upset by defeating South Africa in the World Cup 2023. Paul Van Meekeren was one of the chief architects in their run to qualify for the World Cup 2023 and deliver unforgettable performances in the tournament. 

In the game against Bangladesh, the Netherlands could only post 229 runs on the board and had to bowl well to seal a win. Meekeren delivered an exceptional spell picking up four wicketes dismissing key batters of the Bangladesh team including Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim.
