Gautam Gambhir was dismissed for a first-ball duck against Suresh Raina’s Urbanrisers Hyderabad team in match number five of the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2023 season.
The former Indian batsman, opening the innings for India Capitals, was trapped in front of stumps by Urbanrisers Hyderabad’s new-ball speedster Chris Mpofu during their high-octane run-chase in Ranchi.

Gautam Gambhir was dismissed for a rare first-ball duck as he was trapped in front of stumps by Zimbabwean-based Urbanrisers Hyderabad bowler Chris Mpofu during India Capitals run-chase.
Chasing 190 runs to win in Ranchi, the legendary southpaw opened the innings alongside Hashim Amla. Taking first guard at the crease, Gambhir failed to read Mpofu’s inswinging delivery upfront before making his way back to the pavilion. Moreover, the opening batsman also wasted a DRS review, considering television replays had indicated that the ball would have hit the stumps.

Gautam Gambhir’s early dismissal triggered a colossal top-order collapse within India Capitals camp, before number four batsman and England legend Kevin Pietersen rejuvenated their run-chase with a counter-attacking 48-ball 77.
Despite Pietersen’s run-chase special and Ashley Nurse’s death-overs cameo, the Capitals fell short of their target by mere three runs to succumb to their second defeat in Legends League Cricket 2023 in as many games.
Earlier in the contest, the Urbanrisers Hyderabad had amassed 189-5 off the back of captain Suresh Raina’s 27-ball 46 and Gurkeerat Singh Mann’s 54-ball 89.
