Afghanistan's left-arm pacer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, has made history in the T20 World Cup 2024 by becoming the highest wicket-taker in a single edition.

During the semifinal match against South Africa at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad, on June 27, Farooqi claimed his 17th wicket, surpassing Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga, who held the previous record with 16 wickets in the 2021 edition.

Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has taken 15 wickets so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. He also became the Indian bowler with the most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, overtaking RP Singh’s 2007 World Cup tally of 12 wickets.

Sri Lanka's skipper and right-arm spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga makes his presence felt in the list with 15 wickets during the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia. He is fourth on the all-time list of bowlers with the most wickets in a T20 World Cup, having taken 37 wickets so far in 19 matches.

These came against India, New Zealand, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. He has also claimed 10 wickets in the powerplay, equaling the record set by Dirk Nannes of Australia in 2010.
