Australia's journey in the  T20 World Cup 2024ended in disappointment as they were eliminated in the Super 8 stages.

Defeats to India and Afghanistan sealed their fate, with Afghanistan securing the last semifinal spot after a crucial victory over Bangladesh.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Pat Cummins, the ODI and Test captain, expressed his emotions in a heartfelt Instagram post.

He wrote, "Not the finish we were after. Gutted to be heading home early but love this team and playing alongside these boys."

Despite the overall team performance, Cummins created history by achieving two consecutive T20 World Cup hat-tricks. He first accomplished this feat against Bangladesh and followed it up with another hat-trick against Afghanistan, showcasing his exceptional skill and tenacity.

After the loss to India, Cummins faced brutal verbal attacks from fans, who claimed the victory was revenge for a previous defeat in Ahmedabad and taunted him about returning home early.

Australia's exit was unexpected, especially after a 24-run loss to India and a 27-run defeat to Afghanistan. The team now faces questions about their performance, fielding, and approach, as well as the future of their veteran players. Despite the setbacks, the focus remains on their upcoming engagements.

Australia's packed schedule includes an ODI Champions Trophy campaign and 23 T20 internationals before the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Their next series is a limited-overs tour of Scotland and England in September, featuring six T20Is and five ODIs, with Marsh leading the T20 side.
