The role of a wicketkeeper is among the most demanding in Test cricket, requiring sharp reflexes, unwavering concentration, and physical endurance across extended spells of play. For Bangladesh, a nation that has steadily carved its place in the Test arena over the past two decades, wicketkeepers have played a pivotal role in shaping the team's identity.
Here, we take a look at five of the most successful Bangladeshi wicketkeepers in history, in terms of number of dismissals.
5. Jaker Ali – 9 dismissals
Jaker Ali briefly kept wickets for Bangladesh in Tests in the years 2024 and 2025. In four innings as a Bangladeshi stumper, the cricketer affected nine dismissals, including eight catches and a stumping. Jaker Ali plucked four of those catches in a single innings, doing so against Zimbabwe at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram earlier this year in April. The cricketer claimed eight catches overall in that two-match Test series at home.
4. Nurul Hasan – 34 dismissals
Bangladesh cricketer Nurul Hasan served as his team’s wicketkeeper-batter in 10 of the 11 Tests he played for his country. In those 10 matches between the years 2017 and 2023, Nurul collected 34 dismissals. He snared 25 of them as catches and affected nine stumpings to have the best catches-stumpings ratio among all Bangladeshi keepers in history.
He also holds a rate of 1.888 dismissals per innings, the highest among all Bangladeshi wicketkeepers with more than 10 dismissals to their names.
3. Khaled Mashud – 87 dismissals
Former cricketer Khaled Mashud has the distinction of being Bangladesh’s first-ever wicketkeeper in Tests. He turned up for his country in their Test induction back in November 2000 with a match against India in Dhaka. While Mashud went on to play 44 Tests for Bangladesh until 2007, he kept wickets in each of them, collecting 87 dismissals in the process with 78 catches and nine stumpings.
In his 61 innings as Bangladesh stumper, Khaled Mashud concluded his career with an average of 1.426 dismissals per inning.
2. Mushfiqur Rahim – 113 dismissals
One of Bangladesh’s most experienced cricketers and one of their greatest wicketkeeper-batters in history, Mushfiqur Rahim piled up 113 dismissals in Tests alone. Apart from claiming 98 catches, Rahim has tallied 15 stumpings to accumulate his overall wicketkeeping figure from 99 innings spanning 55 Tests.
Rahim once claimed five catches in a single inning, a Test record for any Bangladeshi wicketkeeper to date. He is also Bangladesh’s most successful batter as a designated wicketkeeper, having tallied over 3,500 runs from 104 innings at an average of 37.
1. Litton Das – 114 dismissals
Bangladesh cricketer Litton Das soared past Mushfiqur Rahim’s tally of 113 dismissals on Day 1 of the series-deciding Colombo Test against Sri Lanka in June 2025, after holding on to a clean catch to dismiss Dinesh Chandimal off Nayeem Hasan. Notably, it took him just 65 innings to topple Rahim’s collection (99 innings), and his stockpile currently stands at 99 catches and 15 innings.
Having first kept wickets for Bangladesh back in 2015, Litton Das has been appointed as national wicketkeeper in 39 of the 50 matches he has played thus far. The cricketer also holds a better batting average for Bangladesh as a keeper, holding that of 36.68 in comparison to his average of 27 as a regular fielder.
