Thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s stunning 171, India posted a massive total of 433 for UAE to chase in their U19 Asia Cup 2025 clash. A 400-plus total in a U19 tournament is a rare feat, yet India’s effort on December 12 wasn’t the highest ever.
Shockingly, several teams have gone even bigger, with scores soaring past the 450-run mark in Youth ODIs. Here’s a look at the highest innings totals in Youth ODI history that spoke of utter dominance on the field.
5) 419/4 (Sri Lanka vs Kenya, 2018)
Back in 2018, during the Under-19 World Cup, Sri Lanka racked up a massive 419-run total against Kenya, riding on the back of Hasitha Boyagoda’s 191 off 152 balls. Boyagoda was a solid presence at the crease as he alone took charge with the bat, with the second-top score being only 60 runs made by Nishan Madushka.
Nevertheless, the monumental 419 from 50 overs was never scaled by Kenya, as in response, the top and middle order faltered, and they only managed to score 108 runs before getting bundled out inside 36 overs.
4) 425/3 (India vs Scotland, 2004)
Just as Suryavanshi is showing promise with the bat in his teenage days, Shikhar Dhawan, a retired India great, showed his potential with the bat back in 2004 against Scotland while playing for the India Under-19 team.
Shikhar Dhawan opened alongside Robin Uthappa under captain Ambati Rayudu to score 155 runs off 138 balls. Uthappa also scored 97 runs to pile up a total of 425 runs for the team at the loss of 3 wickets. In response, Scotland lost 8 wickets but played the complete 50 overs, only to bag 155 runs and lose by a margin of 270.
3) 433/6 (India vs UAE, 2025)
The India U19 team have played their curtain raiser in the Asia Cup to announce themselves with a bang as they joined the elite list of highest innings totals in the history of the youth ODI format.
India’s 433 for the loss of 6 wickets comes after Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a 95-ball 171-run knock at a strike rate of 180 and 14 sixes. Though Suryavanshi was dismissed in the 33rd over, the damage was already done, and Vihaan Malhotra, Abhigyan Kundu and Vedant Trivedi continued the onslaught to push India’s total up to the 400-run mark.
2) 436/4 (New Zealand vs Kenya, 2018)
In the 2018 Under-19 World Cup between New Zealand and Kenya, New Zealand dominated the latter with 436 runs in their first-innings total. Two batters, rather openers, Jacob Bhula and Rachin Ravindra, were responsible for the massive total.
While Bhula accounted for 180 runs, Rachin Ravindra, now a key cog of New Zealand's men’s team set-up, scored 117 runs alongside Finn Allen, who also bagged 90 runs to contribute to the total at the loss of 4 wickets. Kenya, though they tried for 50 overs, couldn't pace up to the required run rate and lost the match by 243 runs after losing 4 wickets during their chase.
1) 480/6 (Australia vs Kenya, 2002)
The highest innings total in youth ODIs, however, has been achieved by an elite Australian team which consisted of one of the legendary lineups. If looked back today, Australia had Craig Simmons, Shaun Marsh, Cameron White, George Bailey, among others, who played against Kenya in the Under-19 World Cup of 2002 to rack up a total of 480 runs for 6 wickets in their first innings.
Craig Simmons scored 155 runs while Sean Marsh scored 125 to his name to add up to this mammoth total that is yet to be toppled. Kenya lost probably by one of the hugest margins in the game as they were bundled for 50 runs inside 21 overs to lose the match by 430 runs.
