The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League has gained tremendous momentum, with records being shattered right from the very first game. And it's no different in what has been a Sunday afternoon fireworks display from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their campaign opener against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Hyderabad.
Batting first, SRH came out firing on all cylinders, launching a ruthless attack on Rajasthan’s bowlers, taking them to cleaners. The likes of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan showed no mercy, playing big shots all around the park. It looked like an one-sided affair as they raced towards a massive total in absolute no time.
Notably, SRH reached the 200-run mark in just 14.1 overs, matching the record for the fastest 200 by a team in IPL history. This explosive start in Sunrisers’ season opener now stands as one of the brutal batting displays in T20 cricket. On that occasion let’s go through the top four fastest team 200s in terms of overs in IPL till date.
4. In 14.6 Overs By SRH vs RCB, Bengaluru, 2024
On a record-breaking night at Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2024, the Sunrisers posted a mountain of 287 runs, the highest team total in IPL history. Travis Head led the six hitting carnival with a sensational century, while Heinrich Klaasen also joined the party with a blistering knock of 67 off 31 balls.
Notably, the Men In Orange reached the 200-run mark in just 14.6 overs, showcasing their merciless batting approach and immaculate power-hitting. This remarkable display of batting strength helped them to set a new benchmark for IPL's highest total, marking a thrilling, historic performance.
3. In 14.4 Overs By SRH vs MI, Hyderabad, 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad once again found themselves on the list of the fastest 200 in IPL history. This time they achieved the feat inside just 14.4 overs against the Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad back in 2024. It was an all-round masterclass of power-hitting, with a vicious approach, beginning with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma setting the tone at the top.
Heinrich Klaasen, came into the action later and finished with a flourish. SRH’s relentless belligerence never allowed MI's bowlers to settle, ultimately breaking their back and leading them to the then highest team total ever in IPL history.
2. In 14.1 Overs By SRH vs RR, Hyderabad, 2024
The orange boys once again shattered their own record, this time in the IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals. After being asked to bat first, SRH posted a massive 286 on what seemed like the flattest pitch deck ever.
They reached the 200-run mark inside just 14.1 overs, with Travis Head and Ishan Kishan leading the charge. Eventually, Ishan completed his century, leaving Rajasthan Royals with an enormous mountain to climb.
1. In 14.1 Overs By RCB vs PBKS, Bengaluru, 2016
Royal Challengers Bengaluru tops the chart for the fastest 200 team total in IPL history. This record was set during a rain-curtailed game in Bengaluru back in 2016. The match was reduced to 15 overs per side and RCB came out firing with Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli smashing Punjab's bowlers on full throttle.
Gayle was dismissed after a quick 73 off 32, but Kohli stayed till the end and scored a memorable century, powering RCB to an incredible 211 total in just 15 overs. RCB crossed the 200-run mark inside 14.1 overs, a record that still stands.
