Rajasthan Royals trusted Jofra Archer a bit too much when they bought him in the IPL 2025 mega auction, however, they instantly regretted the decision as the Rajasthan pacer went for plenty of runs in his team's opening match of the season against a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters.

Jofra Archer enters unwanted IPL list

Against the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and others, it was expected that Jofra would lead the charge with his fiery spell, but that was not the case as the lead fast bowler was taken to the cleaners and he conceded 76 runs off 4 overs and went at 19 runs per over.

This was the most expensive spell in the history of IPL, as Jofra Archer surpassed Mohit Sharma in this unwanted record, who went for 73 in 4 overs against Delhi Capitals in 2023.

Archer came in with a lot of promise as this was his homecoming to the RR family, having played for them before. However, he was taken to the cleaners as the SRH batters made a mockery of the entire Rajasthan bowlers.

The previous record was held by Mohit Sharma, who bagged the unwanted feat in 2023 Vs Delhi Capitals.

SRH post record 286/6

This was a flat track and SRH made full use of the conditions as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head started the carnage and added 45 runs in the first 19 balls.

Once Abhishek departed, Head and Ishan Kishan took over and while Head departed after reaching the fifty-run mark, Ishan went one step ahead as he blasted a scintillating century and remained unbeaten at 106 off 47 as the SRH side posted a huge 286/6.
