Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) set a massive target of 287 runs in their innings, putting Rajasthan Royals (RR) under pressure in the second match of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 23. Rajasthan’s chase began with their strong opening duo; Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
However, things didn’t go as planned for RR. SRH quickly took control when Simarjeet Singh struck in his very first over, dismissing Jaiswal for just 1 run off 5 balls.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Falls Early to Manohar’s Unreal Catch
The moment happened in the second over of RR’s innings. Jaiswal played a strong cut shot, but he couldn’t get enough height on it. Abhinav Manohar, standing at backward point, pulled off an incredible one-handed catch at the edge of the circle. It was a short-pitched delivery angling across Jaiswal, who tried to punch it through the off-side but ended up hitting it in the air. Manohar timed his jump perfectly, stretching out his left hand to grab a stunning catch, sending Jaiswal back to the pavilion.
Simarjeet celebrated his wicket in style, showing great control over his pace, bounce, and line. This was a big setback for RR, losing a key batter so early in the chase.
Notably, Ex-GT star Manohar pulled off a stunning catch that left fans reminiscing about Glenn Phillips' brilliance.
SRH’s Strong Start In the First Innings
Earlier in the match, Ishan Kishan smashed 106 runs to power SRH to 286/6, making it the second-highest total in IPL history. For RR, Tushar Deshpande stood out with three wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana took two.
At the time of writing, RR are struggling are at 29/2 in 2.3 overs.
