Several Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have revolutionized the art of batting, consistently redefining what constitutes as formidable team totals. A striking testament to this shift is that 10 of the 11 highest team totals in IPL history have all been recorded between the 2024 and 2025 editions of the tournament alone.
Moreover, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise has notched up each of the top four IPL team totals, thus underlining their dominance in this power-hitting era. Here, we take a look at five of the highest team totals in IPL history.
5. KKR 272-7 vs Delhi Capitals, IPL 2024
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mounted 272-7 from 20 overs against Delhi Capitals in match 16 of the IPL 2024 season in Visakhapatnam. Opening batter Sunil Narine exploded with a thunderous 39-ball 85, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi at number three blasted 54 from just 27 balls. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh also unleashed sparkling cameos during the middle and death overs to turbo-charge KKR’s innings.
KKR, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, ended up winning the match by 106 runs.
4. SRH 277-3 vs Mumbai Indians, IPL 2024
Roughly a week prior to KKR’s run-fest in Visakhapatnam, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) charted 277-3 against Mumbai Indians to constitute one of the highest match aggregates in IPL history. Batting first, firebrand opener Travis Head blazed his way to a 24-ball 62 while number three Abhishek Sharma smeared 63 runs off 23 balls to shape identical half-centuries.
Aiden Markram conjured 42* runs from 28 balls, and Heinrich Klaasen top-scored in the game with an attacking 34-ball 80*, whacking four fours and seven huge sixes through the course of his knock.
3. SRH 278-3 vs KKR, IPL 2025
Batting first against defending champions KKR in their final league match of IPL 2025, SRH tonked 278-3 from 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen launched seven boundaries and nine huge sixes at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi to record his second IPL century, doing so by mounting 105 unbeaten runs from just 39 deliveries.
Travis Head also made 76 from just 40 balls as the SRH raced to 79-0 at the end of the six-over powerplay phase. Abhishek Sharma (32 off 16) and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan (29 off 20) chipped in with handy cameos at various decisive stages of the game.
2. SRH 286-6 vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2025
SRH started off their IPL 2025 campaign in style, as they clobbered 286-6 from 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals in match two of the season at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With Travis Head leading the early charge by smoking 67 runs off 31 balls, Ishan Kishan at number three blasted 106* off 47 deliveries to top-score in the innings.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen also made quick 30s during the backend of the innings, as SRH secured a comprehensive 44-run win courtesy of sensational wicket-taking spells from Harshal Patel and Simarjeet Singh.
1. SRH 287-3 vs RCB, IPL 2024
In match 30 of the IPL 2024 season in Bengaluru, hosts RCB and the visiting SRH group aggregated a record match haul of 549 runs from 40 overs. Batting first, SRH listed the highest IPL total of all time by whacking 287-3 after being invited to bat first.
Travis Head smeared 102 runs from just 41 balls with nine fours and eight huge sixes. Heinrich Klaasen also played his part with an explosive 31-ball 67. Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad slapped rapid unbeaten 30s during the slog overs as SRH extracted 87 runs from their final five overs.
Even though Dinesh Karthik smoked a fighting 35-ball 83 for the RCB, the hosts fell 25 runs short of their target.
