The IPL has always been a platform where young talent gets the limelight and over the years, it’s thrown up some exceptional teenage sensations. These young players walk in with no fear, full of raw energy, and end up leaving everyone in awe.

Whether it’s breaking records or just proving their mettle against experienced campaigners, they’ve shown that age is just a number when you’ve got the skills to back it up. Here’s a look at the top 3 youngest players in IPL history.

3. Prayas Ray Barman

Prayas Ray Barman was just 16 when Royal Challengers Bangalore bet big on him in the IPL 2019 auction by picking him up for a massive INR 1.5 crore. That made him one of the youngest players to ever bag an IPL contract.

He debuted against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 31, 2019, and became the youngest player to step onto the IPL field. It wasn’t the dream debut he might’ve hoped for—he gave away 56 runs in his four overs and scored a scratchy 19 runs with the bat.

Sadly, his IPL journey didn’t last long, as RCB released him before the 2020 season. His domestic run with Bengal hasn’t been great either and he soon flew away from the radar.

2. Allah Ghazanfar

Afghanistan never stops gifting cricketing gems, and Allah Ghazanfar is no exception. At just 15 years and 161 days, he entered the IPL 2023 auction but didn’t find a buyer. Fast forward to 2024, and Kolkata Knight Riders brought him in as a replacement for Mujeeb-ur Rahman.

The prodigious spinner is a bowling machine. Earlier this year, he made headlines with a jaw-dropping spell of 6/26 against Bangladesh, leaving their batting lineup in tatters. He’s already played 8 ODIs and picked up 12 wickets.

And if that wasn’t enough, Mumbai Indians has now bagged him at the IPL 2025 auction for a whopping ₹4.80 crore. This is truly a dream come true for someone who couldn’t even get a visa to join MI as a net bowler a year ago!

1. Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Topping the list is Bihar’s wonder kid, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. At just 13 years and 243 days, he became the youngest player in IPL history when Rajasthan Royals snapped him up for ₹1.1 crore at the 2025 auction.

Suryavanshi’s story is pure magic. He debuted in the Ranji Trophy at just 12, making him one of the youngest to ever play First-Class cricket. But that’s not all—Vaibhav smashed 104 off 62 balls in a Youth Test against Australia earlier this year, becoming the youngest centurion in cricket history.

With his fearless batting and natural flair, he’s already making waves, and his IPL journey hasn’t even started yet. The young talent will look to learn as much as he can from Rajasthan where he will play under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid.
