The IPL 2025 mega auction began in slow motion in case of RCB until the franchise picked up on day 2. Meanwhile, RCB head coach Andy Flower was exclusively speaking with One Cricket when he shared his views on Livingstone. He noted that bagging Liam for a steal price was a huge deal. He rated the all-rounder’s versatility highly, as he can bowl both off and leg spin. Besides, the enormous power of the ball is always an advantage in the T20 format.
"We are very happy to get Liam Livingstone. He is a very very dangerous player obviously huge power but very versatile as well, given that he bowls legspin and offspin. So having that spin addition to our attack is really nice to secure early in the auction," Flower said.
Andy Flower later explained that in his experience working with Liam Livingstone in England cricket academy, he saw the all-rounder mature as a player. While he has had his moments of ups and down, Livingstone is indeed a great asset for RCB and the management is nothing but satisfied with his buy.
"And the other thing I'd say about Livingston, and I've worked with him quite a lot before, certainly at the England Cricket Academy, what I see in him is a maturing player, and some of his international efforts recently shows that he's a maturing batsman who now can change gear up and down. And his ups very high, obviously, but he can also build innings and absorb pressure when he needs to. So that's been really nice to see recently. We're really happy to get him," he added.
Playing for PBKS, Liam Livingstone hit 111 runs in 7 games with 142.31 SR in IPL 2024, whereas he also picked 3 wickets at 7.00 economy.
