The India World Cup hero Jemimah Rodrigues had once shared a hilarious moment with MS Dhoni. The former captain was amused when she disclosed that her bat weighed more than the one Dhoni used when he played cricket.

The night of October 30, 2025, will forever be remembered in Indian cricket history. At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the Indian women’s team pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in World Cup history at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

They chased down a mammoth 339 to beat defending champions Australia and storm into the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final.

Jemimah Rodrigues reveals candid chat with MS Dhoni

The architect of this incredible victory was none other than Jemimah Rodrigues, who played the innings of her life, an unbeaten 127 off 114 balls.

Interestingly, former Indian captain MS Dhoni somewhere already knew that Rodrigues was destined for greatness.

In an interview with Mashable India, Jemimah recalled that she met Dhoni at an event, and the latter asked her about the weight of her bat, which was 1200 grams.

The revelation left MS Dhoni surprised, as he told her that he used to use lighter bats during his playing days.

"I met him and he asked me the weight of my bat. I said 1200 grams. He's like 'You use a heavier bat than me'. He's very down to earth. He has an aura about himself," Jemimah said.

Jemimah Rodrigues further added that she was in awe of the former legend, as he carried an exceptional aura despite being a humble and down-to-earth person.

The clip has now gone viral again, with fans calling it a full-circle moment after her fearless display against Australia.

India shattered records to overpower mighty Australia

To outclass an unbeaten Australian side in a World Cup semi-final required a special performance, and the Indian team understood the assignment.

The 167-run partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89) became the highest-ever stand for India against Australia in Women’s World Cups.

Not only that, but India’s final score of 341/5 broke multiple records, including the highest successful run chase in any ODI World Cup knockout, men or women.

The victory also ended Australia’s 15-match unbeaten streak in World Cups, stretching back to 2022.
