On Monday, September 9, Sri Lanka registered a historic win over England in the 3rd and final Test at the Oval. It was a dead rubber game as the Three Lions have won the first two games, but the visitors stunned the hosts to register an eight-wicket win.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision backfired as England, batting first, 325 runs on the board. In reply, Sri Lanka tumbled for just 263 runs, giving a lead of 62 runs. However, things turned for good for the visitors as they bowled out England for just 156 runs in the second innings courtesy of a wicket haul from Lahiru Kumara.
Chasing a target of 219 runs, Pathum Nissanka shone for his side as the opener amassed 127 (124), which featured 13 fours and two sixes. It was a historic win for the Island Nation as the fans took over the internet to celebrate the win.
