In a remarkable development back in 2020, the Afghanistan Cricket Board made decision by appointing Mohammad Nabi, as one of its esteemed members. This move marked a distinctive moment in cricket history, as Nabi continued to be an active player while taking on administrative responsibilities within the cricket board.

The announcement,  made through a press release by the ACB, lacked specific details about the reasons behind Nabi's induction. The surprising nature of the decision raised questions about whether Nabi himself was aware of the news, especially as he was actively participating in a match for the St Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League at that very moment.

Notably, Mohammad Nabi had retired from Test cricket the previous year but remained committed to representing Afghanistan in white-ball formats. His dual role as both an active player and a member of the cricket board added a unique dimension to his illustrious career.

Joining Nabi as new members on the ACB board were prominent figures such as the Minister for Women's Affairs, Hasina Safi, Member of Parliament from Kandahar Rohullah Khanzada, and Haroon Mir, senior advisor to the first vice-president of Afghanistan. With a total of nine members, the ACB board underwent a significant reshuffle, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and expertise.
