Hobart Hurricanes’ hard-hitting radical Tim David pounded Adelaide Strikers with a scorching 22-run cameo in match number 33 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season. The Australian cricketer, stepping into the crease in the backend of the Hurricanes innings, faced just 10 deliveries and dispatched two of them for successive monster hits off Strikers’ pacer Henry Thornton.

David’s death-over fury prompted Hobart Hurricanes to rush their way to a competitive 167-6 after they were put into bat first at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval.

Hobart Hurricanes raced to 100 within the first 15 overs of the innings off the back of sparkling 30s from Macalister Wright and Caleb Jewell and a burgeoning 22 from Nikhil Chaudhary. Jewell’s dismissal at 103-4 prompted Tim David to arrive at the crease at a time when more than five overs were still left in the innings.

After taking a couple of deliveries to settle in, David drilled David Payne through the covers for a sizzling boundary. The broad-shouldered middle-order batter later bludgeoned Henry Thornton for successive towering sixes off the first two balls of the 18th over of the Hurricanes innings. The second of the two colossal hits went miles up over long on before it prompted a number of spectators in the crowd to converge for a hilarious yet failed catching attempt.

Tim David was eventually holed out at deep cover off the very next delivery to bring an end to his 22-run cameo for Hobart Hurricanes. His innings helped his side reach 167-6 by the end of their 20 overs. The total, however, did not turn out to be a match-winning one as the Adelaide Strikers overhauled the same with much ease in the run-chase.

Regardless, Tim David will soon be seen flexing his muscles for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The cricketer was retained by the team management back in November 2023, after impressing one-and-all with his blistering run in last year’s season.
