England batter Dani Wyatt found a buyer in UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction, held on Saturday, December 9 in Mumbai.

Wyatt came into the auction at a base price of INR 30 lakhs and the Warriorz picked her up at that price.

Here it is worth mentioning that the 2023 WPL auction also saw Wyatt placing her name, but the absence of a buyer left her disheartened. She also expressed regret over the missed chance. Taking to Twitter, Wyatt had written:

“Dreamt of playing in the WPL. Heartbroken Congrats to all who got picked up. India is a wonderful place to play cricket.”

Wyatt is currently the part of England Women’s squad which is taking on India in the three-match T20I series.

She scored 75 runs off 47 balls in the first T20I with the help of eight fours and two sixes, to help England put a mammoth 197 run total on the board.

Wyatt, in the post-match conference after England beat India by 38 runs, said that she had the WPL auction in her mind during the course of the game.

Here’s what Danni Wyatt said:

“I was pretty disappointed last [auction]. But I have completely changed my mind, so now I am just like I have done all I can, had a good summer, performed tonight, so what will be will be. [I] would love to be a part of the next WPL, will see what happens.”

Wyatt has scored 2602 runs in 150 T20Is at an average of 22.23 and a strike-rate of 127.42 with two hundreds and 13 fifties to her name.
