'Worst Pitch Ever..'- Tim Southee Lashes Out On Dhaka Track Despite NZ's Fighting Win

On Saturday, New Zealand scripted a memorable Test victory, defeating Bangladesh in the decider of the two-match series in Dhaka. Chasing 137, New Zealand crumbled to 69 for six before a sensational 70-run stand between Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner bailed them out of trouble.

However, despite New Zealand's fighting win, skipper Tim Southee launched a scathing attack on the Dhaka pitch, accusing it of favouring bowlers significantly throughout the game. The veteran speedster even claimed it to be the worst surface he has ever played on during his long cricketing career.

"It is probably the worst wicket I've come across in my career. The balance between bat and ball was heavily favoured into the bowler's hands. I think for the match to be over in 170 overs sort of reflects that. So, for our guys to scrap away and then come away with the win was a big pleasure."

New Zealand had a forgettable start to the series, losing the first match by a comprehensive 150-run margin from the home side. However, Phillips's incredible all-round effort helped the BlackCaps avoid an embarrassing whitewash, powering them to the third position in the WTC points table.

Up next, both teams will take on each other in a three-match T20I series starting December 17 in New Zealand.
