Vrinda Dinesh has become the most expensive uncapped player to be purchased in Women’s Premier League (WPL) history. UP Warriorz roped in the cricketer at a staggering amount of Rs. 1.3 crore at the WPL 2024 auction on December 9.

After Vrinda’s historic deal with the franchise, here at OneCricket, we decode her cricketing profile in detail.

Who is Vrinda Dinesh?

Rising Indian star Vrinda Dinesh, known for her belligerent approach with the bat, represents Karnataka Women in domestic cricket. The 22-year-old star bats at the top of the order and also bowls occasional leg-breaks.

Earlier this month, Dinesh was roped into the India A side for their three-match T20I series against the visiting English women at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

While she is yet to make her international debut for Team India, she is considered among one of the favorites to don the national jersey within the coming months.

Vrinda Dinesh was also part of the junior Indian set-up that won the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup Women’s 2023 tournament earlier this year. The batting prodigy bludgeoned a rapid 36 in the title clash of the tournament against Bangladesh.

In the Senior Women’s ODI 2023 season, the youngster tallied nearly 500 runs in just 11 innings at a prolific average of 47.70.

While she failed to find any buyers in the inaugural WPL 2023 season, Vrinda will be joining the likes of senior pros Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone and fellow new recruits Dani Wyatt and Poonam Khemnar at the UP Warriorz camp for the 2024 chapter of WPL next season.
