Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are two cricketing stalwarts from South Asia who have made a significant impact in the 21st century. Despite facing criticism for their strike rates, both players are considered among the best in the world across all formats.

Babar's admiration for Kohli

Despite being arch-rivals on the field, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam share mutual admiration and respect for each other. During a period when Virat Kohli was facing challenges with form and centuries in the post-COVID era, Babar Azam expressed support by posting a message:

"This too shall pass. Stay strong, Virat Kohli," on his social media handle.

Subsequently, Virat Kohli went on to score multiple centuries and even break records, highlighting the camaraderie between the two players.

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, fierce competitors on the field, share a cordial relationship off the pitch. Fans have witnessed them smiling for photos together and exchanging greetings. Babar Azam had expressed admiration for Kohli in interviews, acknowledging that there are many things he has learned and continues to learn from the former Indian captain. He said:

"It feels really good when someone praises you and the way Virat Kohli praised me, I felt really proud. When someone praises you, you get confidence and when I approached him at the 2019 World Cup, he was at his peak, he is still at his peak. At that point, I thought, I should learn something from him. I asked him a lot of questions and I learned a lot from him. The way he explained everything to me was really helpful."

Virat Kohli is set to wear the Indian jersey during the test series against South Africa on Boxing Day, while Babar Azam is currently playing in the test series against Australia after relinquishing the captaincy.
