For an athlete, nothing matters more than being fit, and India's Mohammed Shami is a prime example.

Shami fell down the pecking order due to poor fitness from Team India but made a strong comeback under former bowling Bharat Arun, who emphasised fitness and health. The seam bowler has had issues with his knee at times, but has been injury-free mostly.

Since 2019, Shami has been India's most potent bowler in Tests and recently also displayed his prowess in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, heading the most wickets list with 24 scalps. However, the bowler did reveal that he played the whole world cup with a niggle.

Currently rested from India's white-ball leg of the South Africa tour, Shami revealed his workout routine during a public affair. Speaking to Aaj Tak, the 33-year-old stated how he lifts the most weights in the gym, which could go as high as 750 kgs.

Here's what Shami said

"No other cricketer lifts heavier weights than me in the gym, I don't like to post on social media so people don't know. I can do a 750KG leg press".

The pacer will next be seen in action for India in the two-Test series in South Africa, which will commence on December 26 at Centurion. Shami has already started his preparation for the tour and was recently seen trying to emulate African conditions in his backyard on a practice turf built at home.
