A player, who has captivated the minds of Indian cricket fans ever since the Indian Premier League 2023 has been Rinku Singh

Singh, since gaining limelight for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has made the transition into international quite smoothly, showing his skills and composure in his short-international career already.

In the ongoing three-T20I series in South Africa, Singh slammed his maiden 20-over fifty against the hosts in the second encounter, which found praise from all quarters, including former India opener Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir, who will work with Singh at KKR for the upcoming IPL 2024 season as a mentor, explained how the UP-batter has come up through the ranks and toiled hard to gain a spot in the Indian squad.

Speaking to Star Sports, the former two-time IPL-winning captain with KKR further stated how the whole of India rejoices when Singh performs.

Here's what Gambhir said

"When you come in after a lot of handwork, first-class cricket and you have performed at every single stage, then you value each of your knocks. Then you start every innings like it is your first one, and you won't take anything for granted. Whatever success he gets, I feel, he deserves it. Because Rinku Singh hasn't got anything easily. When he does well, it's not just him, but the entire country becomes happy."

In 10 T20Is since August 2023, the 26-year-old has scored 248 runs at an average of 82.66, and an astounding strike-rate of 183.70.

Singh will be in action when India takes field against South Africa in the third and final T20I today, in hopes of levelling the series.
