In a remarkable achievement, veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli broke the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most hundreds in One-Day Internationals. The stylish right-handed batter achieved the milestone during India's World Cup semifinal clash against New Zealand in Mumbai.

Coming at number three, Kohli steadied the ship alongside promising batter Shubman Gill after skipper Rohit Sharma departed for a quick-fire 47. The talismanic batter rotated the strike consistently and built his innings in the most ideal manner.

After Gill was retired hurt, Kohli stitched a magnificent partnership with Shreyas Iyer, scoring his 50th ODI ton, breaking Tendulkar's record in this process.

Right after completing his century, Kohli jumped with jubilation to celebrate the feat. He removed his helmet and bowed down to Tendulkar, whom he considers his cricketing idol.

Kohli, who slammed a scintillating 113-ball 117, was dismissed by Tim Southee in the 44th over. It was a full-length delivery on the middle and leg stump line, as he flicked it straight to Devon Conway, stationed at the square leg.

As of writing, India are comfortably placed at 334 for two in 44.3 overs, with Iyer and KL Rahul batting on 84* and 0*, respectively.
