Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is undoubtedly one of the most renowned cricketing personalities in the world. If his track record with Australia is not enough to justify his claim, Maxwell’s IPL blitzkriegs for Punjab Kings during his initial years in the tournament surely raised his popularity stocks across the cricketing spectrum.

Back in mid-2016, when a bunch of Australian players travelled to New York as part of a Cricket Australia program, the cricketer jokingly played a prank on an unsuspecting taxi driver from the city alongside national teammate Adam Zampa. In a video shared by Cricket Australia, Maxwell can be seen having fun while talking about himself in third person with the driver, until the latter eventually recognized him and asked for a picture together to remember his time.

Back in May 2016, a number of Australian cricketers including Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja travelled to USA as part of a Cricket Australia initiative. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa, who were part of the travelling group, took some time off to venture around the New York city at one stage of their trip.

The two booked a cab together and even started discussing about the sport with the driver. Despite their extensive discussion around Australian cricket, former captain Ricky Ponting as well as about Glenn Maxwell himself, the cab driver failed to recognize his two passengers.

The unsuspecting driver eventually identified Maxwell and requested the latter to have his picture clicked with him.

Glenn Maxwell recently conquered the 2023 World Cup in India under Pat Cummins’ leadership, just two years after winning the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

The cricketer is also a prominent member in global T20 leagues like IPL and BBL.
