In the Dharamsala Test between India and England in 2024 India batters Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel and England batter Jonny Bairstow were involved in a heated argument on Day 3 of the fifth Test match.

This was the first time when the Indian and England cricketers got involved in a heated argument, which was played in very good spirits and sportsmanship in the entire series.

The verbal spat between Gill and Bairstow

The chatter between the Indians and the English batters was caught on stump mic.

Things turned after Bairstow started a conversation with Shubman Gill regarding a chat in which the Indian opener and the timeless pacer Jimmy Anderson were involved earlier in the game.

Bairstow, who was playing his 100th Test match, initiated the conversation by asking Gill "What did you say to Jimmy about getting tired and he got you out after that?".

The star opener replied in a fancy way and said "So what, it was after 100, how many have you got here?"

Then, to turn things on a lighter note, Dhruv Jurel said, ‘Easy Jonny Bhai.’

Adding to this Sarfaraz Khan added his punch to the conversation and said "Thoda sa runs kya bana diya jyada uchal raha hai,’

When Bairstow had a verbal spat with Steve Smith

Similarly, on the third day of the second Ashes 2023 Test against England at Lord’s in London.

England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow attempted to get under the skin of Australian star Steve Smith, but his attempted sledge, picked up by the stump microphone, fell flat as Smith remained tranquil.

When the New South Wales batter let a wide delivery from James Anderson pass by, the Englishman tried to exploit Smith’s individualistic movements at the crease, and made a reference to the UK show ‘Strictly Come Dancing,’ saying, I reckon you’re the next on Strictly Australia.”

However, Bairstow seemed unaware that the Australian version of the show is called ‘Dancing With The Stars.’ Unfamiliar with the reference, Smith responded to Bairstow’s chirp by asking, “What’s that?”

Bairstow persistently retorted, “Bit of dancing for you.” Uninterested in engaging further, Smith abruptly replied, “Wouldn’t have thought so.”
