James Anderson's longevity and performance in cricket defy conventional notions about age and sporting prowess. His ability to maintain peak form and fitness well into his 40s is a testament to his dedication and discipline.

James Anderson's enduring presence in world cricket truly exemplifies the adage 'Age is just a number'.

His consistent performance over the years has made him one of the most respected and feared fast bowlers. He has troubled three generations of Indian cricket starting from Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli and now youngster Shubman Gill.

When Timeless Anderson Rattled Shubman Gill With Identical Rippers

Shubman Gill in the Dharamsala Test between India and England in 2024 smashed his fourth Test hundred, especially coming after being under scrutiny before the series. Gill's scored his century in just 137 balls, with 10 fours and five sixes.

On the second ball of the 63rd over, James Anderson landed it just outside off, seaming it in.

Centurion Shubman Gill, who was batting at 110(149) was undone by the movement, allowing the ball to breach the gap between his bat and pad to rip out the off-stump.

Similarly, in a magical spell by James Anderson, then the 38-year-old England seamer, dismissed youngster Gill in the first Test between the two sides in Chennai in 2021.

James Anderson's first dismissal in that match occurred right after Shubman Gill had reached a fifty in his third consecutive Test match and seemed set for a significant contribution to India's chase.

Anderson, strategically employing a short mid-on fielding position, bowled a delivery that pitched on a length. He managed to generate just enough movement to deceive Gill, causing the ball to pass through the gap between Gill's bat and pad, ultimately disturbing the off-stump and sending it cartwheeling.

Interestingly, Anderson has dismissed Gill more than anyone else in Tests: six times in 12 innings.
